Brunch is always a good idea – and it’s also a perfect bridal shower theme. It can be a casual outdoor gathering or a trendy feast at a chic restaurant or a bar. Here are some tips for planning a bridal shower brunch.
First thing to do is to decide on a location. Would the bride-to-be like to have the shower in the backyard? Or would she prefer a local cafe, restaurant or a bar? Keep in mind that if you choose a restaurant, you won’t have to worry about food, drinks and decor – but this will increase the cost of the shower.
Invitations are the first chance to share the shower theme with guests. You can include a recipe card with the invitation and ask the guests to write their favorite recipe. Don’t forget to send the invitations at least 4 weeks before the shower.
Food and drink
If you’re hosting the brunch at a restaurant, they will come up with food and drink options. When deciding on a menu, be sure to remember dietary restrictions and food allergies the guests may have. Backyard brunch requires more preparation. If you can, prepare some of the dishes the night before the brunch (muffins, strata, fruit salad…). You can make the mimosa bar – you’ll need one champagne bottle per guest, several juices (grapefruit, pineapple, orange…) and fruit for garnish. You can also make the Bloody Mary bar. Make big batches of the cocktail before the guests arrive and pour it into the glass pitchers. Set up a plate with spices (black pepper, cayenne pepper, dried rosemary), sauce bottles (Tabasco, Sriracha, Worcestershire) and garnishes.
Go beyond the balloon garlands and floral arrangements – give a personal touch to the bridal brunch decor. If the bride-to-be loves to bake or cook, ask the guests to sign the cutting board. You can order the customized recipe box – to store the recipes the guests brought. Thank the guests for coming with a jar of honey or jam. Don’t forget to add a cute favor tag!
