Giving away the bride is a moment during the wedding where the bride’s father walks her down the aisle and gives her hands to the groom. This is an old-fashion tradition, these days both parents are walking their daughter down the aisle or the bride even walks herself. Couples carefully think about how they want to execute this tradition. For many couples, this signifies a joining of two families. For others, it’s a bridge between an old and new life.

Must I participate in this tradition?
Only if you want to. There are a lot of alternatives to this tradition. These days, there are no strict wedding rules, the couples can make their own decisions instead of following old traditions.
What are the alternatives?
