Tips for Planning the Perfect Honeymoon
Wondering how to plan your honeymoon? Should you book ahead? Should you use a travel agent? What about budget? Here are some tips for planning the perfect honeymoon.
Start early
Ideal timeframe for booking the honeymoon is 6 to 8 months before the travel date. January and February are a great time to start planning the honeymoon that will occur in July or August. If you want to visit an exotic destination, you should start planning as far as a year in advance.
Plan together
When it comes to honeymoon planning, divide and conquer is not always the best approach. Honeymoon planning should be a joint effort. Be on the same page.
Itinerary
Don’t copy someone else’s itinerary. Your honeymoon should be tailored to your interests.
Be specific
Do you want to go to a luxury resort? Or to an island known for its natural beauty? Maybe you’d like to travel to a foreign country? Talk with your partner to figure out what you both want.
Research
Check out travel blogs and Instagrams, but don’t rely on online research only. It’s a good idea to talk about your travel destination with your family members or friends who have been there.
Travel agent
Travel agents can be handy if you want extra guidance. They will do all the researching and planning. They also have the insider knowledge about discounts and deals.
Budget
Have an idea of what you’ll be able to spend before you start planning. You don’t want to spend the honeymoon worrying about money.
Hidden costs
Don’t get caught off-guard with last minute expenses. Airport transfers, visas and resort fees can cost up to $1000. Be sure to understand what is included in the cost of the booking, for example, is the transportation to/from the airport included in the hotel rate?
Social media
Post the planning process on social media. Ask for advice and recommendations. Share the excitement with loved ones.
Schedule a surprise
Add a bit of excitement to your romantic vacation and surprise your partner with a couple’s massage or a special dinner.
