Be on the same page

Every couple is different when it comes to choosing a honeymoon destination. Some couples want to have an adventurous honeymoon, others want to lay on a beach. Some couples want to cross something off their bucket list. Talk with your fiance about their dreams, ideas and expectations. Is there a destination you have always wanted to visit? Are the two of you adventurers or would you prefer to relax on a beach together?

Research

Check out travel blogs, travel Instagrams and travel Pinterest accounts. Make a list with your fiance of your top destinations for the honeymoon. Keep in mind the timing of the trip, weather and the local holidays.

Budget

Figure out how much time do you have for the vacation. Research flights for that time of the year, to get an idea of how much will it cost to get to the destination. Create an excel sheet and type how much would you like to spend on the flights, transportation, food, drinks, activities and hotel. Have an idea of what you’ll be able to spend before you start planning. You don’t want to spend the honeymoon worrying about money. Set a budget and stick to it.

Itinerary

Be sure to get enough quiet time for yourselves apart from the days allotted for the tours, sightseeing and activities. Don’t try to cover too many things in a limited amount of time – it will be exhausting. Take time for each other and schedule some resort days for rest and relaxation.

Book early

Early booking is a great way to save some money. To get the best discounts, book the trip at least 6-9 months in advance. Package deals (which bundle the flight and hotel) are also a great way to save money.
